For me, writing is completely spontaneous where I don't usually plan stuff at all. However, then I will be writing and stuff comes through that is interesting and then I go back and read what I have written. If I like what I have written and sense the value of it to me and possibly to others then I might write more. Then the next time I feel like writing I might read again what I have written and then often more comes.
It's mostly about being in the right frame of mind and emotions to be some place in space and time. It's sort of like soul traveling where you have to visualize where you want to be in space and time or dimension and then as much as you feel you are there you actually are.
However, one must be careful about this sort of thing too because we live in a very real world and if we don't care for our physical bodies in a useful way then soon they are no longer functioning. I came to this realization in my early 20s when I first learned to soul travel. In other words God gave us each bodies to live in here on earth and if we don't respect and care for what God has given us then soon we are no more in these physical bodies here on earth.
In this way I learned how to put soul travel in perspective and the fact that God gave me this body for a reason and so I should take care of it in all ways and respect it because each body is literally A TEMPLE OF GOD here on earth.
