Because Speaker of the House Johnson decided to act like Churchell in this historic situation and "be on the right side of history" likely World War III has been averted (at least for now) in this cycle. This has created many ripples down time lines of various kinds (some good and some bad) worldwide. But, we have made it through a time when human extinction was definitely at stake to a place where at least for now, it isn't at stake. Without what Speaker Johnson did human extinction likely would have been assured within 10 to 15 years time at most.
Understanding how timelines actually work is helpful in avoiding problems like this.
