First of all it's next to Escondido off of Interstate 15.
It's about 74 dollars to go for an adult. We also rented 2 electric Scooters because of the heat which was pretty hot today too. This allowed us to see more without melting into the ground and needing an ambulance to fight Heat prostration today also. However, if you want to rent a 4 wheel electric scooter you need to go early when they first open because otherwise they quickly run out. I think it was 60 dollars for each scooter for the day.
Also, at the end of the day I realized that the battery was going and since I was going uphill towards the entrance and exit I couldn't stop to wait for my wife and daughter because on a hill you cannot start up if the battery is starting to go. So, I high tailed it back to the entrance where we bought our tickets and returned mine so no one would have to fetch it for me. My wife and daughter showed up 10 minutes to 1/2 hour later. Also, there is a weight limit they say is 300 pounds. However, on the device itself it says 500 pounds. So, I think they limit it to 300 pounds because of all the steep hills you won't make it up if you are over 300 pounds at the end of the day. One of the strangest things is that from the Tram going back to the entrance you have to drive into an elevator which takes you up what looks like 4 or 5 stories to a level where the entrance is. It took us a little while to realize they wanted us to drive these electric scooters into an elevator. This was sort of beyond anything that made sense to us. The girl elevator operator said only one electric scooter at a time though so one of us had to wait for the other one to come up the elevator. It's a lot of fun there looking at lions and tigers and rhinos and giraffes and species of deer from all over the world including a herd of Water buffaloes. They even have a platypus enclosure but I had to use a time lapse on my Iphone in order to get a good picture because it's kind of dark in there where they are.
Wonderful experience that I have waited about 50 years to do. So, one more thing checked offf my bucket list from the 1970s when I went to college near here.
Later: I also realized I didn't mention the 3 to 5 Elephants that they have there too. One of the things that the park people were feeding the elephants surprised me a little which was sliced Sweet Potatoes. My dog likes dried Sweet potatoes as a chew also. It was amazing to watch them pick up the food off the grassy area with the tip of their trunks and put the food expertly into their mouths and chew it up.
