Most of the Natural Gas Infrastructure is 50 to 75 years old. This is why periodically houses or businesses blow up. For example, you cannot build a house in Santa Barbara new and put natural gas in it. You can ONLY have natural Gas if it was installed before now in much of California. So, almost every week now a house or business blows up from a natural Gas leak somewhere in the U.S. and people die.
