They could likely take about 6 to 8 inches there without flooding but 13 inches within 2 days it is likely going to flood some. Then there might be more rain there until Sunday night too. Where I live on the coast they expect between 3 and 6 inches of rain by Sunday night but it won't really get going where I live until Friday to Sunday night dropping those 3 to 6 inches they said.
The Bomb Cyclone itself doesn't even come ashore at all until Sunday so it's a lot like a counterclockwise hurricane in this. So, the rain bands of the Atmospheric River the Bomb cyclone is dragging onto the land and likely will seriously flood some place. It's difficult to predict which areas could really be wiped out by the Flooding they said. There are many variables still in play at this point both the Bomb Cyclone and the Atmospheric River it is dragging behind it.
The real point here is that some places are likely to get 20 inches of rain between Wednesday and Sunday which is going to cause a lot of flooding depending upon where exactly that all hits.
The rain has already started from this storm hitting from about Medford down a little into California and that part of the storm lasting until Sunday will likely hit places like Mt. Shasta and other places tonight. So, this is a long drawn out Rain Affair and likely snow some places too. inland not to far above sea level it will be below freezing tonight too. So, likely there could be snow on Interstate 5 north of us too. Just not sure where it will hit. But, checking the temperatures before you drive very far north of San Francisco tonight might be important with this big rain storm coming in because it could all easily turn to snow on a dime too anywhere north of San Francisco inland.
Here's a good example of what I'm writing about:
In Sacramento it's 32 degrees tonight with a Freeze warning so ice or slush on roads around Sacramento could happen tonight, for example.
