We drove South to the SF Bay area yesterday from raining and snowy Mt. Shasta (one week of rain and snow) there

I woke up today sort of grateful to be out of the rain and snow constantly for the last week, especially because except for a week ago Wednesday you couldn't go up Everitt Memorial highway to go to Bunny Flat and I wasn't interested (at least this time) going to Mt. Shasta Ski park just off of 89 and Snowman Summit. Also, we were having trouble with our automatic tire pressure indicator likely because of the cold more than anything else. Also, if you have a car without a cigarette lighter hole (whether you have the lighter component or not) you cannot use a 12 volt air compressor to fill your tires with air unless you have at least the socket with 12 volt power access.

I bought one of these things not realizing that my 2022 Subaru Ascent doesn't automatically come with a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket with power so I had to take it back. However, I do have a three prong 110 volt outlet from the back seat with a low amperage inverter I believe built into the car. But, when I returned the 12 volt Automatic tire inflator I found they only sold the 12 volt kind that goes into the socket of a cigarette lighter. I have this on my truck and have a 12 volt tire inflator for that one and I suppose if I'm home here I could inflate my tires on my Subaru using the Truck's 12 volt lighter system. However, my Truck was in the SF Bay Area and we were in Mt. Shasta many hours away by car or truck.

When my wife took our Subaru to Subaru they said to take it to the place where we buy tires so she did and they checked it all out and rotated our tires too for free because we had driven then at least 5000 miles which is part of the deal there.

It appears that all the tires appeared to be low because of the cold weather which set off the automatic low pressure indicator on our dashboard. Our housekeeper said it cost her 250 or more dollars to replace the low pressure sensor in one of her tires that kept giving her erroneous information too. She said that they wanted 900 dollars or more to replace all of the sensors so she chose to replace only the one malfunctioning.

It was pretty amazing to see 67 degrees on Interstate 5 coming south and everything so green from all the rain. Beautiful Trip with full sun and seeing the snow capped peaks of the High Sierra Mountains was nice too. Great Trip driving south!
