How high an altitude can Barley be Grown at? (over 15,000 feet like in Tibet)

This is why Tibetan Tsampa has been an important staple for Centuries there in Tibet. When I traveled to Nepal up to 10,000 feet in altitude trekking in the Himalayas about 25 miles in and 25 miles back out or a total of 50 miles to Tarkye Gyang and Shermontang with my family in 1986 Tibetans and people of the Himalayas showed me their wooden bowl and a leather bag of Tsampa often that they kept over their heart area in the folds of their garments which were traditional Tibetan Garments then in 1986. When they reached a new village or town on foot across suspension bridges and Himalayan Trails they would buy fresh Yak Milk or Yak Butter from the locals and mix the roasted Barley flour with the Yak Butter or Yak Milk which was and likely still is a staple for Centuries in Tibet and the Himalayas for many groups of people including Tibetans.

When I returned to the U.S. sometimes I would buy purple or white Roasted Barley and then mix Cow Butter with it which I still found interesting to do when I returned to the U.S. to remind me of how the Himalayas are a completely different place than anywhere else on earth.

Like for example, there would be canyons or valleys of the Himalayas even at 9000 feet elevation where bananas still grow. I have never seen anything like that in the U.S. because the Himalayas are closer to the Equator than we are here in the U.S.

begin quote from Google AI and Internet:

Barley can be grown at surprisingly high altitudes. While the specific upper limit varies depending on the variety and location, barley is known to be cultivated at elevations as high as 4,600 meters (15,100 feet). Highland barley, in particular, is a key crop in high-altitude regions like the Tibetan Plateau, where it can grow at elevations of 4,200 to 4,500 meters. Barley's tolerance for cold and short growing seasons makes it well-suited for high-altitude environments.

It grows at soil pH between 5.0 and 8.3. It thrives in cool, dry con- ditions. In Hawaii, barley grows year-round at elevations above 1500 ft. At lower elevations, planting should be limited to the fall-winter season, according to the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Does barley grow in the mountains?
Only some more hardy cereals are cultivated in mountains. Rye, barley, oat and wheat, very often not as a pure population but as a mixed one, are harvested in the late summer. Many local races of cereals and potatoes are commonly cultivated.
