Though it was 90 yesterday in the Portland, oregon Area today it is only around 60 degrees Fahrenheit at 9:30AM approximately. We got to see my family members who live here yesterday and to take them out to dinner also and our dog is also traveling with us which is a Blue Merle Corgi that everyone seems to love wherever we go too. So, the hardest thing so far for me on the trip is dealing with edema in the heat but as long as I'm in a cool enough place most of the time I'm okay. Because we were out to dinner last night until 9 pm I had to take my furosemide at 9 pm which isn't good which kept me running to the bathroom until around 3 am this morning but since I'm on vacation and retired I can still make up the sleep I lose anytime I need to.
We are staying near a lake in a heavily wooded area of Portland called Lake Oswego. It appears to be a very rich enclave of people who seem to be quite happy in this place that reminds me a little of Santa Barbara and Montecito in California only with many evergreen trees everywhere and moss a lot of places and lakes and kayaking and stuff like that.
For example, instead of bicycle racks on cars mostly you see kayak racks on cars in this area. Also, Portland proper is also known as one of the places where the most bicycles are ridden of any city I have been to. But, it does mean you always have to be on the look out for bicycle riders wherever you are especially when you are driving a car.
