How do I think of what Zen actually means?

Zen for me means totally living in each moment. Why is this useful?

It is useful for one's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual Survival here on earth.

For example, if you are distracted by your cell phone while you are walking down the street you might inadvertently step in front of a bus and be dead.

So, Being Zen in every moment allows you to physically survive at all.

People who are into electronic stuff too much aren't going to survive when things get bad enough physically here on earth (unless they have someone very ZEN watching out for their well being every moment.

However, I'm very lucky because before I was 6 years old we only had radio and magazines and books and funny books and funny papers to occupy ourselves when we were bored. So, boredom in this sense teaches you to look around you at the animals and trees more and thereby stay alive. You also watch carefully all people around you so that they won't kill or maim you or your friends and relatives more too.

So, being ZEN in every moment is one of the keys to long term survival here on earth.

IF you aren't present in your body watching yourself and everyone around you all the time often you are gone when that bus that you didn't see (because you were looking at your cell phone) kills you when you step in front of it.

There is something to be said for being Scared enough(or aware enough) of what is going on around you and inside of you that you actually can survive every moment of your life.

By God's Grace

People often want to take anxiety medicine which then can make them less aware of their surroundings and soon they are dead or maimed because their mental focus wasn't based enough on survival in each moment.

There is something to be said for being very present in every moment even if it is a little scary because otherwise we are soon gone.

By God's Grace
