How to avoid inflexible awful work schedules:

After working part time since age 10 as a Newspaper boy delivering the Glendale News Press and working many manual labor jobs part time and also working weekends and summers with my Dad learning the Electrician trade because my father was an Electrical Contractor in Los Angeles, I realized I wanted to own my own business just like my father, my uncle and their father my Grandfather.

Then my cousin 5 years older than I became a lawyer and started his own law practice with a few friends who were also lawyers.

However, I was coming at this from a place where I wanted to travel the world more. This is where I was coming from as well as several of my friends. So, our solution to this problem was to buy relatively inexpensive land then in Mt. Shasta in that area of around 2 1/2 acres each and to build our own homes on this beautiful but relatively inexpensive land. why?

Because none of us wanted a Mortgage on the land and we all had been to college and realized that with a mortgage we would never be able to afford to travel the world. Not really.

So, by buying inexpensive land but beautiful mountain land in Mt. Shasta we solved one of the problems so none of us had mortgages because we built our own homes as we could afford to build them and soon our land was  paid off too.

Then starting businesses was another step here where we could choose our own hours to work.

By owning your own business, especially in something like Construction which people need everywhere on earth, when you finish building or remodeling one home or business you can then travel on your savings in between jobs for weeks or months around the world.

However, then because I was married mostly I had eventually 3 biological children, 2 step children and one adopted daughter over the years and kids are very expensive generally speaking. So, trying to travel with children under about 9 or 10 years of age can be very difficult.

However, we managed when I was 37 to spend 4 months in Japan, India, Thailand and Nepal with my son and my two step kids before my other two children were born in 1989 and 1996 in 1985 and 1986 when we were traveling with my son who was 10 and his step sister 12 and her brother 14 (also a step son) throughout Asia then.

So, if you want to travel and see the world there are many ways to do this. But the way we chose was to own our own businesses and pay cash for our land and build our homes on our land as we could afford to do this.

It all depends upon what your goals in life are. Mortgages are a ball and chain for most people but some people like this and staying in one place their whole life too. I was always as a person under 40 or 50 wanting to see the world more as much as I could while I was still alive.

Yes. There are many methods of doing this. This was just ours.

By God's Grace
