What Fun! No not if you are 77 years old and your wife is 70 and you have already had heat prostration several times as a younger person.
We left Orange County where my cousin and wife live and started the car up and noticed that the Air conditioner wasn't coming on. We could get a fan but that's all. My wife said this happened before but after a few minutes the air conditioner kicked in. I was concerned but my older daughter and her daughter and husband had already left for Santa Barbara (where we were all going today) and so I figure the air conditioner should go on eventually. NOPE!
So, then because it was too hot we had to leave the windows open. Then I realized the fans were getting the car hotter because the fans go through the engine compartment and because the air conditioner wasn't working the car was heating up even more.
AT this point I got a little scared because I have already had heat prostration several times as a younger man in my life from over work out in the heat. I haven't let it get to where I had to go to the hospital but I have had the experience of having a headache for several days and being confused a lot which can happen when you get overheated. I have Scottish super warm hair that where the hairs are thin but grow very thickly (which is great if you live in a cold climate but not for southern California and it's deserts.
So, then because I was a little addled from too much heat with the windows open I got on Interstate 5 rather than the 405 and didn't even realize it until about 1/2 hour later. Then downtown LA we got on the 101 which takes you through Hollywood and over to North Hollywood and the Ventura Freeway North to Santa Barbara, Oxnard and Ventura and points north up the coast.
However, the scariest time for me was realizing I wouldn't necessarily feel safe even if I got off the freeway in East LA because of the 95,000 Gang members there etc. And this is the area where it was the most bumper to bumper and the hottest places of all (unless you were shaded under and overpass) for a few seconds here and there.
However, eventually we got over to the Silverlake district where I remembered being 6 to 10 years old and riding electric boats over Silverlake (the actual lake) which you can see from the Freeway.
At that time Pearl Sindelar (the wife of the famous artist) ran what is called "The White Temple" which is in the Silverlake district. (but I'm not sure if it exists anymore). When I looked it up I began to think that the "White "I AM" Temple in the Silverlake district likely ended pretty much when Pearl Sindelar passed away.
Pearl Sindelar I knew when I was a child likely from 1954 until 1958 when she passed away. I would have been 10 in 1958 and my parents ran the Hope STreet "I AM" Temple on Hope Street in Los Angeles which I believe is still there today.
