Safe in Santa Barbara

The drive south was nice and the highest temperature I saw yesterday was around 88 degrees likely either around Paso Robles or Buellton because both places can get pretty hot.

However, then I tried to pick up a relative at the Santa Barbara Airport. I couldn't believe how many people were parked there and I couldn't even find a parking place unless it was far away from the main terminal.

So, I walked inside the terminal and waited from my relative and her daughter. Then she called because they had been diverted to LAX from Santa Barbara Airport. I found out later at least 40 smaller jet ports in the U.S. and around the world had had something happen to their radios so the commercial flights couldn't land there including Santa Barbara. So, that explains why all the people were parked there at SAnta Barbara Airport looking confused and on their phones.

I appears this has been happening all ove the world not just in the U.S. for the last couple of days. For example, my relative was stuck in Los Angeles Airport then they wouldn't release her luggage to her and she was going to have to get it somehow in Santa Barbara. Then finally after a couple of hours they released her luggage. Then I wanted her to get a hotel room and I would go down and stay the night if she got two queen beds in a hotel room for her and me and her daughter. Then she got her luggage which was really too much to deal with because of the baby carriage she was pushing around the Airport.

So, now she has been awake since 2 AM Pacific Time and it is already around 7 pm. Luckily she is young enough to survive all this and hopefully the baby is doing okay too.

However, if you think about what I'm saying here and then multiply this problem by thousands and thousands of people all over the world you can see what a logistical nightmare this is.

What about kids visiting relatives who are traveling alone? What happened to them? This is pretty Crazy and one of the problems likely caused by reducing funding to the FAA to begin with where they cannot even afford to keep their radios working when terrorists do things like this worldwide (or nations like Russia or China do things like this worldwide just to show they can?)
