I and my family were initiated into the Kalachakra Tantra Initiation along with 500,000 people from all over the world december 1985 in Bodhgaya, India

 This experience was completely unexpected by the way. 

I had been a fire lookout and one of the forms of Vajrasattva (Diamond Vow) came to me and told me that I was going to India in December of that year.

This was a surprise to me while I was working as a fire lookout and miles away from anyone else in a Fire Lookout Tower at 4000 feet elevation overlooking the Sacramento Valley.

So, I returned home to my home on the coast and to my family when I got off duty for the California Department of Forestry for that week and told my wife we were going to India in a few months.

She said: "Where are we going to get the money for this?"

I said, "I don't know but this is likely going to happen because of the experience I just had with Vajrasattva(Diamond Vow). From my experience of this Vajrasattva is the most evolved Buddha in the form realms which contains all Galaxies in the Universe. This is how he was always described to me. So, I knew this was important not only for myself but likely for all mankind and life throughout the Universe for him to come me and tell me this to begin with.

Well. we received an inheritance and decided not to buy anymore land because we already owned 2 1/2 acres in Mt. Shasta where I had built us a house with the help of family and friends (especially my father who had just retired). So, we decided to go to India. However, it wasn't as easy as that for a variety of reasons. We went to a local Travel Agent then in November of 1985 and they wanted 10,000 dollars for airline tickets to and from Kathmandu, Nepal (which is next to India in the Himalayas).

This was too much money for us. However, eventually the first week of December we went with my mother and friends to Haight Ashbury because my friend used to work for the Berkeley Barb during the 60s so it was sort of a nostalgic visit to the 60s in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco.

As we walked along the street my mother saw a special for going to Hawaii and this appealed to her of I think a week or two in Hawaii for under 300 dollars including air fare. I thought this was too good to be true so I went inside the travel Agency and realized I was in a very special place that sold discount tickets to professors and students for things like Archaelogical digs around the world and research trips.

This type of ticket is more like a stand by ticket where it is highly discounted because there is no set date on the ticket and you can be gone somewhere for 6 months at a time before you return home.

I asked this man how much it would cost for 5 people to kathmandu, Nepal by Air and he said $6000 round trip through Narito Airport in Japan and Bangkok Thailand and we could also go to Hong Kong if we wished too on the way to Kathmandu, Nepal.

However, he said you have to leave by December 11th 1985 in order to do this because of the holidays in all these countries including the U.S. or it won't work.

So, we had about a week to prepare for this trip and we went all 5 of us to Japan, Thailand, India and Nepal and we were gone from December of 1985 until April of 1986.
