Bird flu for example, and likely Covid also came from certain species going extinct in certain areas and being replaced with other animals or birds who could carry these diseases unlike the original animals and birds.
For example, squirrels at Lake Tahoe often carry plague which is a shock to many people. And a friend of mine had to have rabies shots into her stomach as a rabies precaution in India when she was attacked by a band of wild feral dogs there.
So, as the ecology degrades expect to see more and more diseases coming from animals and birds to children and people in general around the world.
