If you live along the California Coast it is time to prepare for Gale Weather and small Craft warnings and potentially trees coming down

Also, Flooding is a problem many places too.

Where I live they expect gusts of 75 miles per hour which sometimes is enough to bring down trees into power lines and phone lines and cable.

However, in regard to actual loss of life the thing to watch out for is tourists who don't understand personally what an ocean can do in a storm getting too close to the ocean on rocks where they have nowhere to run and getting swept away under these conditions.

This is especially problematic for relatives and friends visiting from other areas where they aren't exposed to year around weather conditions at the coast.

First of all, Never turn your back on the ocean if you are on the beach or on rocks if you want to stay alive.

If you are pulled out to sea by a rogue wave (unexpectedly large wave) which often occur during storms every 10 or 20 minutes time you only have 15 minutes to stay alive this time of year. If someone doesn't get to you or you cannot swim ashore during that 15 minutes you will start to hallucinate from hypothermia and be lost first mentally and then physically.

So, preventing being swept away by a rogue wave is everything when you are on the beach or rocks.

Yes. the Big waves are beautiful to look at but they are equally deadly to your life and you families lives too if you are too close when a rogue wave hits.

We can survive power outages with electrical generators gas or diesel powered or by moving out of our homes and getting a hotel room until the power comes back on.

However, surviving on the ocean in these conditions is iffy to impossible during storms this big.

So, boats generally stay out of the water during these storms for this reason all up and down the California coast during storms like this.
