Is it better to be raised in a religion or not raised in ANY Religion?

I'm not sure I am the one to comment on this really.

However, there likely is no person who has both been raised in a religion and simultaneously not been raised in a religion so maybe I need to try to address this issue.

I found that the moral structure of what I was taught growing up kept me from being a non-virgin completely until I was 21 years old. This didn't mean I didn't spend nights with another girl or woman starting at age 16 or didn't mean I didn't start dating at 15 years of age in 1963.

What it meant was that I was trained to be a gentleman and ONLY to date girls I might marry one day and often these girls were in my church (at least until age 21).

However, I was also dating a 21 year old in my church when I was 16 years old too which changed my life a lot.

The point is that the moral Structure of my religion and church kept me out of alcohol and drugs throughout my teens (which is unusual now) for most people.

So, the structure of the religion I was raised in saved me from a lot of problems including getting a girl pregnant before I was 25 years old and having to get married. This allowed me a lot of freedom in my life between 15 and 25 years old that many boys and men never have.

So, in this sense my religion saved me from impregnating anyone until I was 25 years old when I got married and had my first child a son.

However, other things in any religion can be very problematic. So, at best I would say religions are paradoxical and problematic in everyone's lives to a greater or lesser degree.

Can you live without one? Many people do.

Is it better to be raised in a religion. I"m actually not sure.

However, it was good that I didn't impregnate anyone until I was 25 and grown up enough to get married and deal with all the consequences of this.

This also allowed me to go to college and study Computer Science, and after that at 21 PHilosophy, Psychology and Anthropology and then later in life when I owned 2 or more businesses Anthropology at UCSC in Santa Cruz, California.
