My daughter and her boyfriend from Texas were visiting this area traveling around the area and saw the fire engines and wondered what was going on. So, I looked up this incident to see if the 55 year old Blonde Blue eyed lady swimmer was ever found. Not yet, it seems as of 9:30 pm Sunday night. They will continue the search for her tomorrow (local rescue people there).

Current Unconfirmed Incident (December 21, 2025)
On
the afternoon of December 21, 2025, authorities initiated a search and
rescue operation for a 55-year-old female swimmer who went missing off .
A witness reported seeing a "large splash" and what appeared to be an
attack before losing sight of the woman. As a precaution, all beaches
within a mile of
(including McAbee and San Carlos beaches in Monterey) have been closed.
The incident is currently unconfirmed as a shark attack.
Confirmed Incidents in 2022
Two great white shark incidents occurred in 2022:
- June 22, 2022: Swimmer Steve Bruemmer was seriously injured when a 14-15 foot great white shark attacked him about 150 yards from the beach. He suffered major injuries to his stomach and leg but was rescued by good samaritans and survived.
- August 10, 2022: A paddleboarder and his dog were knocked into the water when a shark bit their board multiple times. Neither the man nor the dog was physically injured.
Prior to these 2022 incidents, the last recorded shark attack in the area had been in 1952.
