The day I began writing about Arcane was sunny and beautiful so I just got out a brown paper grocery bag and began writing sitting on my front lawn looking up at mt. Shasta. I had just gone to pine Grove health food store which was an outgrowth of an Organic Food Co-op out of the 1970s. In fact I could still buy at cost in bulk through Pine Grove which I did for our land things like Brown rice (25 pounds) and maple syrup and Peanut butter and pasta in bulk to get really good prices on organic things then in 1980 in Mt. Shasta.
Arcane was a spontaneous event and I noticed that my new writing style was amazing for me even though I never really intended to publish what I was writing then but I found my writings healing me internally from traumas of my youth and young adulthood.
I had studied for several years to become a psychologist but this was interrupted by my live in girlfriend getting pregnant and me having to go to work to support us all (including my new son then in 1974).
So, by 1980 a lot had happened and I was living in Mt. Shasta with my son and two step kids by then. Then we bought property out past McCloud and I built us an A-Frame to be able to shed 7 feet of snow which often fell in winter then before Global Warming set in like now.
However, a couple of years ago a good friend of mine had 12 feet of snow outside his house in that same area until May or June but luckily he was at least able to get the snow plowed so he could drive in an out from his 2 1/2 acres of land.
However, he passed away last January at age 81. HE was a friend since the 1970s when we both used to visit Pearl Dorris who was a student of Mr. Ballard in the 1930s.
Even Walter Cronkite visited Pearl Dorris in the 1970s because she became pretty famous.
