More regarding office to apartment conversions

 So, unless there was room outside of these buildings to add extra supports and often there is not because office buildings in places like New York and Chicago are often right next to each other what they are doing is downright dangerous to anyone in those buildings or nearby.

So, without the extra engineering supports which might not be possible in these situations what they are doing is likely very dangerous because these buildings were never built with this much weight in mind and so supports will tend to collapse under the extra weight they were never engineered for in the first place as office buildings. 

The Office Buildings simply were not designed for Kitchens or this many bathrooms or bathtubs or showers or plumbing to go to and from all these bathrooms and kitchens as well as all the kitchen appliances in every unit. So, the extra weight can or will bring down all these office to Apartment conversions if they cannot build the extra supports strong enough to carry all this extra weight not designed in when the office buildings were first built. And if there is no room between buildings it often is not possible to re-engineer these buildings to carry the extra weight after the fact like this, especially buildings built in 1900 and 1960 where all the people who designed these buildings are likely dead already.
