Three days without food and the people riot (literally everwhere on earth is literally 3 days away from food riots) if there isn't food

It is important to understand this. For example, the French Revolution which was from the

Estates General of 1789 and ended with the Coup of 18 Brumaire on 9 November 1799

So, after the starving people guillotined all the aristocracy of France (anyone rich) this changed France forever. By the way this never happened in the U.S. before where the whole nation was starving. However, there are places on earth where this could happen any day now too.

A famous saying claims every society is only "three meals away from revolution". Historically, when people go without food for three days, desperation sets in, basic survival instincts kick in, and unrest often sparks into public protests.
Why Three Days?
  • Store Shelters: Most modern grocery stores and local supermarkets do not keep large warehouses of extra food. They operate using "just-in-time" delivery. If supply lines stop, store shelves empty in about 3 days.
  • The Body: A person can last up to 3 weeks without food, but only 3 days without water. The acute lack of resources causes panic.
  • Psychological Impact: Hunger triggers severe fatigue, irritability, and panic. When a community realizes there is no food coming, desperation leads directly to action.
Historical Food Riots
When populations face severe shortages or rising prices, the lack of food frequently triggers massive societal pushback.
  • The Richmond Bread Riot (1863): During the American Civil War, skyrocketing inflation and blockades made food unaffordable. Starving women and children marched on the governor, smashed shop windows, and looted supplies shouting, "Bread or blood!".
  • The 1917 New York City Riots: Following rumors of wholesale price hikes on basic produce, hundreds of angry residents and mothers rioted, climbing City Hall and attacking markets. Wholesalers were ultimately forced to lower prices.
