As I watched this rescue I saw the smile on the Lifeguards face as he told the kid to hold his breath as they were going to be over topped by a huge wave. This is the way surfers survive this kind of surf by going under a big wave to survive it after it breaks. Otherwise a wave this big can injure or kill people if you take it full force and don't dive under it.
