Drove south to Santa Barbara Yesterday

It's nice to be in the 70s instead of 57 degrees at night and 60 degrees during the day every day from high fog this summer.

However, it is also true that driving through San Ardo to get here it was 104 degrees too yesterday. Though it's foggy right now at 8:30 in the morning it is already 69 degrees so I can sit outside comfortably and look at all the plants and trees and across the valley where 101 goes through Santa Barbara too.

So, it's really good to be here. I had a tooth out on Monday with an Oral Surgeon which is always difficult because I have had this tooth likely for 70 years or more so far because I'm 78 years old now. So, it's sort of like saying goodbye to an old friend but at a certain age often you cannot have root canals anymore because your teeth maybe just start collapsing on themselves or something and it's better to have them pulled and eventually put an implant in them so you don't lose the teeth above them too. So, even though it's quite expensive to get implants relatively speaking it's worth it to not lose more teeth because of the ones you have pulled.

The Oral Surgeon took very little time getting my tooth out and did a really great job of sewing the gum up there. However, then he said it bled underneath the stitches which he also said was normal but it causes your face to swell on that side too. So, this isn't an easy thing to live with especially because you have to take anti-biotics which make you spacey or might give you the runs.

So, anyway I'm sitting outside typing this in our backyard here which overlooks the valley that the 101 Freeway goes through Santa Barbara. And the Jacaranda plants are still blooming which is really beautiful too. They don't usually grow in the SF Bay area which has mostly entirely different plants and climate than somewhere more warm like here in Santa Barbara.

Treat jacarandas mean for younger flowering. They prefer warm climates and compacted, dry soil. Avoid pruning for better shape.
