God Moves in Amazing Ways: Saturday August 22nd 2026
I was watching today a program about human survival in the wilderness on TV and it reminded me of what my father and grandfather taught me which was true in the 1800s and early 1900s up until my father graduated high school in 1934.
But, today I was watching this guy gather pitch off of trees to make a torch with a split branch and stuff on the end of that branch of wood. And then he was talking about how you can cannibalize your car or truck if you are stuck in the wilderness in the snow for example.
So, you take the carpets and backs to seats and make mukluks and use the seat belts too so if you only have tennis shoes you can protect yourself from hypothermia by building yourself insulated boots that remind me of my Sorel Boots in some ways which are insulated from cold and snow too.
These are some of the Sorel Boots available. I have some I believe size 15 of the ones at the top here that are beige but also insulated quite well too for walking around in the snow so you don't get hypothermic trying to walk in snow in tennis shoes or something. they are rubber on the outside about up to the ankles which helps from getting wet in the snow too a lot. So, basically they are waterproof up to your ankles basically.
Also, if you go into the backwoods take a good knife and a hatchet too if you are safe with a hatchet (not everyone is). But, with that knife you can help yourself make mukluk types of boots out of insulation out of your vehicle along with Floor mats so you are insulated from the snow so you don't die in your tennis shoes trying to walk in the snow. YOu cut little holes for the seat belts to go through to make your mukluk kinds of waterproof boots and then tighten the seat belts up enough to keep your feet waterproof in the snow. and to stay warm enough to not get hypothermic and start hallucinating.
Because once you go hypothermic in snow or cold ocean water you aren't around much anymore. But, mostly making mukluks is for surviving deeper snow and staying alive when something bad happens while you are driving in the snow somewhere. Hypothermia makes you hallucinate and then soon you are gone because you aren't rational anymore.
