I think "The mandalorian and Grogu(2026) was more for the Disney streaming fanbase
I could see how people watching this without having watched "The Mandalorian" on Disney Streaming might have been pretty confused. Even as it was it seemed to have more in common with "The BladeRunner" series especially the last one than most Star Wars movies like the First one out in 1977.
However, in some ways it was much more sophisticated in that it was very "Alien" in nature in many ways and yet I could see a younger Fan Base of 2 or 3 years old to 12 really taking hold of this relatively new Genre of "The Mandalorian" Too.
Remember how older viewers didn't like Jar Jar Binks? I think they are going after a whole new younger audience who will be future fans with this movie as people get older (beyond 30 for example) long for the older Star Wars Shows newer audiences are ever more sophisticated and want newer more alien stuff like this one.
