The last big Hurricane to hit Hawaii hit Kauai in 1992. They were still rebuilding and bringing back Kaaui when I was there in December of 1995 so I saw what some of the damage had been and watched videos of what had happened locally too then with my wife. That hurricane in 1992 was called Hurricane Iniki.
