1 in 5 male children have ADHD?

I have a problem with this statistic. First of all if 20% to 40% of children are known at this time to be different learners (dyslexic,  Aspergers, mild autism or other types of different learning) and since public schools are often forbidden to address this by testing because of funding, how do we know this is correct about 1 in 5 boys actually having ADHD? How do we know this isn't just a way for drug companies to make money drugging kids that might just be different learners? And just like with Curt Cobain who was the rock star that blew his head off with a shotgun, who as a child was forced to take Ritalin constantly. How do we know that Ritalin didn't actually cause his death as an adult because of being forced to take it as a child?

My daughter came home from first grade telling me she wanted to kill herself because she was constantly shamed because she was a dyslexic. Only we didn't know she was dyslexic yet. At that time I knew my son was a 150 IQ dyslexic but we didn't know about my daughter yet. My mother hadn't told me that she and her mother were dyslexic yet (until she was 82) so I didn't know where the dyslexia came from because it is hereditary.  Shaming is standard procedure in all public schools. However, it doesn't work for dyslexics and different learners it only harms them and sometimes makes them commit suicide.  However, the public school wouldn't test her so we did for around 1000 dollars. Then they were angry at us for testing because this forced them spend more money to teach her differently. We finally had had enough of the dishonesty in public schools regarding different learners all across the U.S. and enrolled our daughter in one of the 12 private schools in the U.S. for different learners. Before you drug your kids have them tested for dyslexia or various different learning profiles. By testing them you can find out perceptually what is going on. Also, it might be something as simple as the kid needs glasses or hearing aids.  Even if you can't afford to send your kid to a private school for $25,000 a year at least you will know what is going on and won't be lied to by your public school anymore. (Hopefully). By the way by sending my daughter to a private school from age 7 through 12 she was so intelligent and so successful she was able at that point to succeed in the most difficult College prep private school in the county which sends many students to places like Stanford and Harvard and the like.

Also, if your kid is just dyslexic or Aspergers or slightly autistic at least you won't drug them thinking they are ADHD when they are not and ruin their lives forever. My personal experience is when you use these types of drugs it may calm the kids down but also prevents them from ever having a normal life in the future. So, maybe it would be better to home school your kids or put them in a private school set up for them rather than to drug them and potentially ruin their futures. It is worth doing enough research into this so your kids actually have a future.

Also, if you find your child is a different learner with Dyslexia or another type of difference often at private schools for different learners there are scholarship programs and sometimes grandparents or rich relatives who love your kids will fund them in private schools that can actually help them. Public schools have their hands tied because of a lack of funding. They are forbidden in most cases to test your kids for this. So, they would rather have you drug your kids than know the truth unfortunately because of the lack of funding in public schools these days.

NOte: The fact that 1 in 5 boys in the U.S. are now reported to have ADHD was reported on NBC News today by Brian Williams on April 1st 2013.
