Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead in his apartment in New York City on Sunday, died of an apparent drug overdose, a New York city police source said.
The source said Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after a 911 emergency call from a friend of his. The New York City Police Department confirmed to the LA Times that the “Capote” actor was discovered with a hypodermic needle in arm.
Hoffman had completed a detox program for substance abuse, including snorting heroin, in May, according to Variety.
