reported on PBS Newshour today July 1st 2015, there are
137,000 refugees from the Middle East that have made it alive into Europe without drowning in the first half of 2015.
75,000 or a little more than 1/2 of the above amount made to Europe without drowning in 2014 in the first half of the year.

This sort of makes one think that things are now twice as bad as they were in the middle East about one year ago that so many would risk everything (even death by drowning) to get away from the Middle East anyway they can.
Also, Greece is the leading destination for the migrants because likely there are less laws against them there and less money to enforce any discrimination against them by police and government agents.
