Money is a funny thing.
Some people are good at making it.
And some people are good at saving it and investing.
And some people are really good at spending it.
Most people on earth fall into the last category.
So, they are broke most of the time because of it.
But, in order to take care of your family you have to learn to be good at least in the first one:
Making money.
Otherwise your family starves.
But, if you are single long enough before you marry and you save enough money then maybe you have enough money to buy a house with the down payment.
But, then if you don't buy your house or land in the right place it has no real value to anyone when you want to sell it. So then, if you sell it often you are going to lose money on it.
Most people buy land because it makes them happy to buy there.
However, that is not about making an investment financially.
That is only about being happy.
So, if you want to be happy do what makes you happy.
But, often that has absolutely nothing to do with money, savings, property values, or income.
In my 40s I started meeting more people who looked at a piece of property or house as ONLY an investment and nothing else. And people who thought this way often were wealthy.
But, that doesn't mean they were happy, it only meant they were wealthy. Because what it takes to be wealthy doesn't make most people happy.
So, if you want to be happy just remember having the skills to make and invest money so you are well fixed the rest of your life won't make you happy. You just won't starve. That's all.
Happiness is about how kind you are to yourself and all other beings and how good that makes you feel inside. That is happiness.
But then, how do you reconcile all that with making enough money to live and then be rich?
This is the paradox of life and all of us have to come to terms with it person by person.
