At least 5 dead from Mudslides in Santa Barbara so far

Apparently, 5 bodies have been recovered after one or more houses were swept off their foundations in the inundation of mud and rocks. One 14 year old girl covered with mud was rescued and put on a stretcher. It's possible we are going to see more of this this season as the rains come more now. When you have fires right in the middle of the worst possible rainstorms like now with no chance for grass or bushes or any recovery of the landscape this is what you have to expect to see more of until April or may of 2018, especially where there are hills and the water has nothing to stop it anymore like bushes, grass, roots and trees no longer there. The Thomas fire area is likely going to be the worst to deal with as it is incredibly large. So, expect this sort of thing from Ventura to Montecito and Santa Barbara ongoing now. Montecito is just the last expensive housing area to be hit by the fire which is why it is getting the worst of it right now.

Since this isn't loading right I would recommend, especially if you live in California to read the Los Angeles Times version which you have to click on because it won't load. Also, if you have relatives in the area call them to make sure they are okay because of the amount of roads that have already closed because of mudfall out of the hills and valleys there.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — At least five people were killed and homes were swept from their foundations Tuesday as heavy rain sent mud and rocks sliding down hills stripped of vegetation by Southern California’s recent wildfires.
Rescue crews used helicopters to lift people to safety because of blocked roads, and firefighters slogged through waist-high muck to pull a muddy 14-year-old girl out of the rubble of a home in Montecito, in Santa Barbara County, northwest of Los Angeles. She was taken away on a stretcher.
Five bodies were found in and around Montecito, Santa Barbara County Fire Department Capt. Dave Zaniboni said.
