Though I find fasting days (i Used to like 4 days the best on either Organic Apple Juice or Water mixed with organic lemons and a little maple syrup to prevent headaches from toxins releasing during fasting (the lemon and maple syrup are very helpful).
So, my 4 to 7 day fasts I stopped around my early 40s because I found they became counter productive for me especially after my heart virus in 1998 and 1999.
But, even over 50 or 60 I still find intermittent fasting really healthful and life giving and life extending.
How?
Well. What works for me is to try to not eat anything from 6 pm until around noon the next day.
This gives my body at least the time to recover from food and water. So, what happens is my body (and yours) using 90% of its energy digesting food.
However, when your body is not digesting food or processing water it can then heal itself. If you have ever watched injuries heal in your body you understand what I'm talking about.
So, intermittent fasting can literally save your life and extend your lives and help you stay alive after 40 or 50 years of age.
However, you can also do intermittent fasting at any age you want to as well.
For example, I was having a lot of problems with my furosemide doing it's job and then I realized we had friends visiting from Santa Barbara which meant I wasn't giving full attention to my own health at age 77 which can be a problem. So, last night I couldn't sleep until around 2 or 2:30 am and then my wife was snoring because of allergies this time of year. I felt like I was going to scream from my own problems plus her snoring too.
Then I realized I haven't been sleeping late enough to get the benefit of intermittent fasting. So, I made it a point to sleep almost until noon today. This caused me to drop off 2 pounds of water weight so I felt I was heading a direction that would keep me out of the hospital. Also, I'm trying to prepare for heading in the next week or two to Santa Barbara and then soon after that we are going north as far as Portland later in June to visit my son and his family.
so, I really need my health problems caused by my trip to Austin to settle down enough so I can travel without causing myself more health problems while traveling. Especially things like altitude and sleeping at altitude I learned aren't good for me at this age in 2022 when that sort of put me in the hospital (all the sleeping at altitudes over 5000 to 6000 feet in Tahoe, and Tetons and Yellowstone and Banff and Lake Louise over 5 weeks of traveling in our Ascent all wheel drive.
So, the point of all of this is intermittent fasting can save your life at almost any age or health condition and cause you to lose weight (or prevent weight gain) while still getting enough good nutrients to keep your body alive.
So, if you have never gotten into intermittent fasting you should study the benefits of doing this because it will definitely help you live longer and longer in life and increase your quality of life.
For example, I don't know many people who can travel as much as I do at age 77. But, I find if I do it right it at most only takes me about a week to fully recover from a week or two of traveling.
So, I'm still safe at 77 traveling to places like the Hawaiian Islands and for me especially to Kauai and Maui. I used to live on Maui in 1989 and 1990 and on the big Island of Hawaii in 1974 when my son was born.
So, Good Luck with Intermittent fasting. It can save your life and extend your life!
