This is about 15 minutes from now. However, usually people overestimate these things in order so that people don't die or get maimed generally speaking.
However, what they said about this one is that it could be 10 feet high (the Tsunamis) and that if you are going to stay alive along the coast you need to be at least in a 4 stories high in a building if you are located along the coast otherwise you might die or be maimed.
These messages should be taken seriously because on May 23rd 1960 a friend of mine was a child vacationing in Hilo, Hawaii from California and watched people die when the tsunami hit them in Hilo, Hawaii then. So, this sort of thing is real and pretty serious.
Also, the tsunami in Japan killed around 30,000 people in Japan from a Tsunami and Earthquake in 2011. Also, the tsunami in 2004 killed about 250,000 people in Indonesia and Thailand and Ceylon and other places in the Western Pacific Ocean. So, taking Tsunamis seriously is how you survive them.
First you either go to higher ground or you go far out to sea on a boat or ship. Either way you likely will survive the tsunami if you do one of these two things. So, when they say be 4 stories up along anywhere on the Hawaiian Coasts even if on the leeward side of the Islands because TSunamis wrap around Islands. They aren't just going to hit from on the West Side of the Islands and the first tsunami might not be the largest one either.
begin partial quote from NYPOST:
Governor Josh Green urged Hawaiins to remain calm and to evacuate coastal zones, but reassured those worried with the reminder that no residents died during the 2011 tsunami, which saw 7-foot waves, during a press conference.
