My daughter and her husband and daughter and I and my wife are visiting my cousin in Orange County. So, since it was about 80 degrees today and the pool was also 80 Fahrenheit I got into the pool and shot baskets into the basketball hoop in my cousin's pool as my daughter spoke with my Cousin who just retired about 6 months ago. I have been visiting his house since he bought in just before 1980. And he used to own horses on his land here and ride horses too so I and my daughters especially have ridden my cousins horses over the years since around 1980. But, today it was nice to get into 80 degree water in 80 degrees outside on a really beautiful day. Swimming pools (outside at least in the open air) aren't very common nearer to San Francisco because the temperatures usually stay under 70 degrees year around at least on the coast. However, it is also true that because of the Pacific ocean the temperatures on the coast seldom go below about 40 degrees Fahrenheit too which is why people like to live in northern California too. So, it is never too hot or too cold usually and along the coast at least in Northern California the clouds and drizzle often prevent fires too during the summers.
However, driving south it often can be over 100 degrees in places like Paso Robles and Buellton, California as you are driving north or south on Highway 101. Also in Orange County temperatures over 100 degrees can be common especially later in August or September of any year.
