How does one find Gratitude?

I can most describe gratitude in my own life.

I think first we can be happy and grateful  to be alive in a human body on earth.

Then we can be grateful for having enough food to eat.

Then if we are lucky like I was we are grateful for our parents especially if they are good parents.

I think this is a start.

Then I could be grateful as a child growing up where I had my own bedroom from my early teens onward.

And I had my own bedroom from 8 to 12  years old as well.

And Strangely enough, I could be grateful that I was a trusted member of the family and responsible so they could give me a gun, a .22 rifle when I was 8 years old. My Grandmother from Texas gave me this rifle that used to be my Dad's when he was growing up. It was a Remington Pump Rifle that could hold about 17 .22 long rifle shells. I kept this rifle in my closed along with about 100 rounds or more of bullets up on a shelf for emergencies (either me protecting the family from an intruder or from varmints, rats or other animals that might be a problem. This is a tradition going back in the U.S. to around 1620 AD by the way and it stayed this way until the Viet Nam War when things began to change a lot in the U.S. especially in larger cities. But out in the country many places are still traditional like this.

In fact, my stepson who is a retired Fire Captain from California wears either a .45 automatic or a 9mm automatic pistol in public wherever he goes in public in Montana where he lives now with his wife.

So, if you start with what you are grateful for then what do you want to do in your life that will make you even more grateful?

But, if you don't start with Gratitude for what your already have things can easily go awry I find in people's lives.

This is just the way things really are in life, folks. I didn't make the rules.

Without enough Gratitude in our lives we all tend to perish pretty quick I have found just by watching people my whole life.

There are always things to be upset about in life but if all you do is be upset about everything then you might be on a path to take your own life or other people's lives and this isn't usually good for anyone including you.

So, We all live by God's Grace and so being Grateful for what we do have puts us in God's Graces I find and tends to bring more good things into our lives.

and unfortunately the opposite often brings death or worse.

Like I said I didn't make the rules this is just how life really is.
