Something amazing happened to me as I experienced a Cardioversion in the hospital

 For example, it prevented me from dying.

So, often when people I knew growing up in church say things like: "I don't go to doctors or hospitals" I notice a lot of them are dead now including my father and one of my dead best friends who refused medical help and died before their time. So, from my point of view I take seriously the addage: "Leisure to practice" which I first learned about around 1980 which goes something like: "I'm praying for the time to pray for all beings in the universe".

This is my motivation for staying alive: "Praying for all beings in the universe to end their suffering and to have better lives including myself."

I feel this is a good motivation for staying alive. Other people believe in fate and die.

I believe "There is no fate but what we make!"

I believe we are co-creators with God and that God made us all this way to help each other suffer less and have better lives ogoing.

And one of the ways is through prayer that we can make huge changes to our lives and other's lives.

So, I feel very sorry for people who don't understand this yet.

It's sort of like when you want to build a table you draw up plans and build a table

If you want to build a house you draw up plans and build a house.

Praying for a good future for all life in the Universe is planning and building a good future for all life forms in the past, present and future.

Once you understand this you can be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem.
