So, if temperatures are being reduced by the smoke staying mostly over North America, for some reason instead of traveling to Europe and Asia like it usually does when there is smoke it is changing the dynamics of everything in North America at the very least above Mexico.
Though people become more susceptible to Covid directly because of the smoke (because of the damage smoke does to people's lungs) it also occludes the sun and likely is reducing temperatures on the ground somewhat too.
So, hopefully, this will reduce temperatures and the heat on the ground much like pyroclastic glass dust particles in the air from Volcanoes also do around the world.
For example, the pyroclastic glass dust particles in the air from Iceland went over to France and caused people to starve who weren't rich because crops couldn't grow normally or right and this caused the French revolution, the invention of the guillotine and the execution of most upper class people in France who didn't escape to England or other countries during the French Revolution.
So, something as simple as smoke from fires nationwide or pyroclastic glass from volcanoes occludes the sun and tends to change the weather on that continent or island and sometimes changes the nation and the world in various ways.
Here is a URL for a smoke map right now of North America. As you can see smoke is all the way up into Hudson Bay Canada instead of going to Europe like it usually does on winds.

I believe the three biggest sources of the smoke are the Dixie Fire, The Caldor Fire and the Tamarack Fire which are all in the Sierras in California presently.
