Bear slaps down intruders to it's territory. It is very earthy and basic in many respects. Native Americans often call Bear, Big Dog, because it's behavior is often like a giant dog. One must respect bear medicine at all times or else one is slapped down or injured by Bear or even killed by Bear. So, respect for Bear must be at all times or one becomes a victim of bear.
Eagle medicine is about flying above and seeing everything with it's eagle eye. It can safely fly above and swoop down when necessary after fish or rabbits or other prey. Eagle speaks with God (sometimes called Wakon Tonka, the Great Moving Grandfather Spirit of the Plains Indians sometimes associated with the Chinook Winds of the plains).
Dragon is more known in China and Europe but from a Native American perspective Dragon would be the most terrifying arbiter and protector of earth itself. Dragon comes in emergencies to save mankind from themselves and to rescue the human race. In China, Dragon can be good or bad or neutral, but always extremely powerful and dangerous.
In my own life and visions Dragon breathes fire upon others and enlightens them which was the experience I had on my Native American Vision quest of no water and no food for 4 days and nights in 1983 on the South Fork of the Trinity River under the tutelage of a Medicine man at that time in my life. One of the reasons I started to blog online in 1999 in June after I nearly died was because of this vision from God and understanding more my place in the universe.
Dragon can be a spiritual or political leader in Chinese culture and history. So, so far the most sophisticated ways of viewing Dragon I have found in Asian historical views. It's one reason I studied Tibetan Buddhism in the U.S. and India and Nepal after having my vision of becoming a huge Dragon who breathed the fire of enlightenment upon thousands in my visions.
