To support Ukrainian forces in the east of the country, the United States is delivering 121 suicide drones to the Ukrainian army. The Phoenix Ghost was adapted to the specific needs of the conflict in the Donbass area.

“The Phoenix Ghost was quickly developed by the US Air Force, in specific response to Ukrainian needs,” said an American official quoted by Breaking Defense. “It’s a great example of how you can adapt in real time to their situation.”
With the weather warming in Ukraine, there are fears that the Russian military is advancing rapidly in the country. To remedy this risk, the Phoenix Ghost drone could be one of the solutions. This autonomous and simple to use drone has been adapted to serve in the Donbass area. It was designed to attack and deliver blows deep into enemy positions, requiring minimal tracking once launched.
Full U.S. Commitment
120 copies will be delivered to kyiv initially, as part of a new military aid plan of 800 million dollars decided by the Biden administration. This American reinforcement also includes 72 guns, 75 armored vehicles and 144,000 artillery munitions. Enough to equip “the equivalent of five battalions” in artillery, according to the Pentagon.
For its part, France is one of the countries which also deliver portable missiles with an efficiency far superior to the Russian models.
