I cannot say for sure because I'm not a scientist professionally.
However, just off the top of my head it is logical to me.
What creates lightning bolts?
Likely friction of various kinds creating static electricity.
When winds increase this static electricity is bound to increase too over time.
Which likely will kill more and more people.
For example, growing up I almost never met anyone who was struck by lightning and lived. However, by the time I was 30 I had met several people who had been struck by lightning. But, I also noticed that their lifespans seemed also to be shorter than most people as well.
I can remember being on a promontory rock at Chilao in the Los Angeles National Forest when I was about 10 years old and my father's hair (which was curly stood straight up on his head). So, being an electrician he knew that lightning was about to strike.
So, he said, 'Freddie! We need to get off this rock because lightning is about to strike when your hair goes straight up like that!" We had been laughing because each of our hair looked so funny and then my father got serious and told me we had to leave the top of the boulder or get struck by lightning.
