Well. I guess we are in for it. The tallest waves I have seen where I live are 35 feet waves that a big wave surfer was surfing with the help of a jet ski so he didn't die after it fully broke on the rocks here.
However, I don't think I have ever seen a 70 foot wave in person ever. The highest surf I have surfed or body surfed or boogey boarded on would be between 10 and 15 feet high and usually I got injured in one way or another or almost drowned doing something like this even though I'm a very strong and efficient swimmer.
However, times like this I'm glad we bought our home at about 200 to 300 feet in elevation so it won't potentially be washed away in something like this here even though we are only a mile from the ocean nearer to San Francisco.
However, I also have seen waves bigger than 20 feet breaking with surfers surfing them just north of Santa Cruz at Mavericks. 20 foot waves are fairly normal at Mavericks which has the consistently biggest waves in California that I know of.
