Comments on Avengers breaking record

AVENGERS SMASHES 200 MILLION DOLLAR RECORD

Since the software on the article I quoted wasn't conducive to my putting quotes in the last article I decided to write more here. This is really great news for Disney after "John Carter" failed at the box office. However, I personally loved "John Carter" and watched it 2 or three times on the big screen in Oregon and California. I particularly loved Edgar Rice Burroughs style of putting himself in the story. One wonders what was going on in Mr. Burroughs life that he would write something like this. I also found "John Carter" amazing because of the fact that likely humans (at least part of our dna) likely came from both Mars and the planet that was the asteroid belt planet that was blown up by a thermonuclear war. So, "John Carter" is possibly a mythological recreation of actual events, or even a past life memory of Edgar Rice Burroughs mythologized. Also, I found in the character of "John Carter" a lot of the same attributes that we also find in Indiana Jones, sort of a very intelligent cowboy college professor can do kind of person. So, both in "John Carter" and Indiana Jones we have the archetypal American Man of the late 19th and early 20th Century. Since I met many people like both of them growing up in the 1950s onwards I know what I'm talking about.

Also, the symmetry of being rated one of the First A+ movies I can remember right now and then by word of mouth, "The Avengers" looks like it is definitely one for the history books. With number 1 box office actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlette Johanson and the presence of all the other actors you really can't go wrong either. When you put it all together you have ultimate actors, ultimate story and ultimate money backing its success. When you put that in a theater and audiences rating it an A plus movie worldwide you really can't go wrong.
