Half Moon Bay

I had picked my son up as SFO (San Francisco International Airport) as he had flown in for a week before he got married by himself to see us since we haven't seen him in person in about a year as he lives too far away to visit easily now. So, he was sort of tired and I asked him whether he wanted to go to Half Moon Bay on our way home. He was sort of tired and said the plane was sort of cramped because he is about 6 foot 1 or 2 and having enough room for your knees and feet is a big thing on planes if you are about 5 foot 11 or 6 feet or more.

So, we hopped on HIway 92 and went over the coastal range to Half Moon Bay. I had hoped to see the big wave surfers at Maverick's Beach but they had all gone since they surf competitively in the early mornings so just a Hiway Patrol or 2 was left to watch the area. Because it was about 2pm when we passed Maverick's. On the way he wanted to drive my 4WD truck so I let him drive along the extremely scenic Hiway One south from Half Moon Bay. I had wanted to have sort of an adventure with my son like we used to when he lived in California still up to about a year ago now. So, we walked out on a couple of the state beaches on the way down.  I took off my crocs and walked barefoot on the beaches because it was at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit out. So, though I wore a jacket I could go barefoot in my jeans in the water with my cuffs rolled up and be comfortable there. There were driftwood art objects that people had made with redwood and other pieces of wood that washes out rivers and into the ocean and then back onto land from the waves all along this part of the coast both north and South of Half Moon Bay. We stopped as he was starting to get a little tired and bought some strawberries,

Olallieberries

, and raspberries that had ripened on the vines from locals as well as two jars of Felix's Honey (Half Moon Bay Address) made from wild flowers which is pure raw local honey. The people we bought it from were nice and though the prices weren't cheap you knew you were getting healthy fruit and Honey because of the remoteness from cities since it is all grown and harvested right there along the coast near Half Moon Bay.

by the way Ollaliberries look a lot like Boysenberries and taste in some ways similar.
