Who is corrupting Whose Values?

This is now a terrible slippery slope.

This is why I'm addressing this even though this is very ticklish to approach because of the basic insanity of the world now.

Ok here goes. My problem in the 1960s was I didn't like football players from various high schools and colleges taking baseball bats to kill black males and gay men on Friday and Saturday night (and this was in Los Angeles, this wasn't in the south). This was what before about 1969 life was like here in California even in the Greater Los Angeles Area. And these gays and black men would usually just disappear after they were killed by a baseball bat to the head. This happened regularly and nothing would be proved because young football players (white) disposed of the bodies by burying them in a shallow grave. I knew this sort of thing went on in Los Angeles every Friday and Saturday night. Football players even had a sickening name for it (n bopping and Gay bashing) then putting the body in the trunk of their car and burying it in a shallow grave never to be found. This was protected by bigoted police and police chiefs in L.A. who were often the case then.

This was one reason why I never went out for football in High School, mainly because I knew this was going on every weekend. However, it was sort of like hazing, if you told anyone you might be beat up, knifed or worse, (tortured to death by the perpetrators). So, keeping your thoughts to yourself about all this seemed the course of wisdom if you wanted to live even another moment or another day at all.

You today don't know how bad it was then. The following is a true story I experienced at age 12 just after celebrating my Graduation from 6th grade at Horace Mann elementary school: I saw the boys from Roosevelt Junior High School in Glendale, California. They were laughing. I waited as long as I could. I didn't want to have my whole face scrubbed with lipstick. You submitted or they would beat you bloody and an ambulance would be called if you survived. I know this is unimaginable today. But, this was then in 1960 not now.

I wondered at the time why teachers and the police didn't stop this?

It was really awful. Well, if you submitted to this rape like scenario you wouldn't be "beat to shit" as we used to say then.

I felt sick as I saw girls screaming from being thrown to the ground and lipstick was put everywhere but their clothes, up their skirts to their panties. Sometimes they would even draw faces in lipstick on the girls panties as they screamed (pretty bad huh?). This was no joke. This was when Hazing was king.

Boys traumatized last year by having this done to them were happily abusing the next class, mine.

Oh yes. They had all had this happen to them too. It's just what you did to "Scrubs" coming into the 7th Grade. After they did this to me. I submitted because I didn't want my arms and legs broken or my face either. It seemed logical to let them have their hazing. I saw other boys and girls who resisted beaten to the ground and left sobbing as they were scrubbed anyhow.

It seemed the most practical to get over it and then go tell my parents how absolutely fucked it was going through this.

My parents were completely horrified by what I told them happened to all my class mates. The only ones who avoided this had parents pick them up. The boys knew enough that they couldn't confront the parents because the parents would have no problem beating up or killing the boys doing this to us.

It was also like that then. If the junior high boys confronted parents they might die too and no one would blame the parents if the boys were stupid enough not to understand this. The laws meant nothing much in society then. Police normally were not taken seriously unless they told you they were going to kill you and then they did kill you.

It was all might makes right. People disappeared who were different, especially minorities and people with infirmaties. It was normal to kill anything and anyone different than you were. This was America in Glendale in California in 1960. This was normal for then.

The result for me was we moved my parents were so absolutely upset about this. They refused to let me go to the school of the Gang Khaki Boys. The Khaki boys of Roosevelt Junior High wore high topped black boots they would stomp you with. They all carried a razor in their boot to cut you with. People were really terrified of them. Their outfit: Khaki pants, black boots with a razor to cut you, White T-shirt with cigarettes tucked in the t-shirt sleeve.

So, my parents moved to an affluent school district and away from the barrio Roosevelt Junior High School to near Glendale High School that was famous because John Wayne graduated there.

Was life better in the rich Woodrow Wilson Junior High? NO. It was much worse because the rich had clicks I didn't understand. They wouldn't let you in if you hadn't been (one of them since birth). So, I was an outcast moving up from the lower classes. My best friend there I met when I gave him my paper route when I started to have seizures while going to Horace Mann Grade school in 1958 when I was 10. Epileptic Seizures made me want commit suicide because it was like being murdered each seizure. Likely, such a seizure would cause the death of anyone over 30 from a heart attack or stroke. But, I was young enough to have survived to 15 when the blunt trauma seizures all stopped.

In a lot of ways growing up was hell but interesting growing up in Glendale California from 1956 until 1969 when I moved to Venice, California to work as an electrician building an apartment complex there. I never went back to live in Glendale. Nothing there for me after my best friend joined the air force and repaired jet engines in Thailand for the Viet Nam war. We never saw each other again until the 1990s when I found his yahoo email addresss: oval54@yahoo.com.
We visited Yosemite like we had as boys when I was 15 and they had the firefalls every night during the summer. Yosemite was a camping Disneyland where people camped, made out and partied until they Rangers made them be quiet. Amazing era! like American Graffiti.

However, then laws started to change. People had the right not to be killed more. The police protected Black men and Gay men more all the time. Sure there were still police who killed blacks and gays because they thought it was their white duty but now many police were not bigoted killers like it used to be in law enforcement from the 1700s to the mid 1960s.

So, I was happy people had stopped killing gays and black so much at least here in California where I mostly grew up. By the way, if you are from California white people have always talked easily to black people in this state. I have had several black friends along the way growing up and this is just thought normal in California.

I have had many friends that were gay or bisexual that I have known along the way. Because this was always more normal here in California ever since the gold rush days of 1848.

However, here is my criteria (in the 1960s) "Please don't come up to me and hug or kiss me because then I will be forced to knock you out under some conditions. You might even be dead if you do this to me."

2nd: I don't want to know your exploits with other men in bed. I don't care at all about this. Means nothing at all to be. It's all your own bullshit. It's not mine.

at all. I'm happy no one is killing you or torturing you. However, I don't sanction gayness. I think it is morally wrong as a Christian. But, I don't think you should die because of it either.

Also, I am offended when gay people have children only to introduce them to a gay lifestyle. Kids from this kind of situation are only going to grow up twisted and will need therapy to not kill themselves.

Just because I don't want people to kill you doesn't mean I approve of you being gay. Because raising children in a Gay lifestyle I think destoys their lives and isn't fair to them.

So, I think you should have the right to be gay but I don't think you have any moral right to bring children into a really screwed up situation.

My thinking is: "You shouldn't be killed for being gay. However, having children just so you can introduce them to a gay lifetyle only corrupts the rest of our Christian Culture and that isn't fair at all to Christians. So, I'm happy no one is murdering or torturing you. However, you do not have the right to destroy the lives of Christians. Two wrongs don't make a right!
