I think a better way to put this would be he is "Changing" the Republican party possibly forever.
So, it is becoming more of a party of "populism" than a party of Conservative Republicans.
This is why I'm thinking that it seems like there should be some kind of party splinters that might take place.
Or the Republican party might just try to be a "Big Tent" party like the Democratic party is, simply because you won't win big elections otherwise.
Either way you look at it the Republican party likely is never going to be the same. A similar thing happened to the Democratic party in 1968. So, if you study what happened then to the Democrats a similar thing might also happen to Republicans now.
However, populism can be rather dangerous too. For example, Hitler was a populist too. Because populists have the same kinds of qualities of "Mob Rule" which can easily get out of hand. We see some of these problems at Trump Rallys where people are beat up by Trump supporters or Anti-Trump supporters beat up Trump supporters.
So, like I said the problem with populism is "mob rule" which means many people are going to be unhappy with the outcome (like when a mob hangs someone until they are dead). So, the problem with populism and mob rule is that there is no "Rule of Law" involved in most decisions made.
This is the reason why most democracies (voting populism) are within the structure of a Republic worldwide.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
