There are several problems that might come from doing that with hydrogen or helium balloons or dirigibles carrying pyroclastic volcanic dust into the upper atmosphere of earth. The first problem is it would likely reduce the amount of food grown on earth because less sunlight would reach the earth. So, though it likely would reduce temperatures a lot, how would people grow enough food without the same amount of sun on less and less tillable land worldwide right now? As people build houses or huts or apartments or high rise buildings on land, less and less tillable land exists every year and every day. For example, where I live in California some of the best land is being converted to track homes every day because the best soil on earth some places is being covered with asphalt and cement and homes made of wood. So, the best soil on earth is disappearing at an alarming rate worldwide under homes and other structures being built every single day.
So, though we might reduce temperatures we also would reduce the amount of food grown too. However, there is another factor to consider as well:
Overpopulation might overtake us and drive us to extinction.
At least with Global Warming and Global Climate change extinction might be put off for several centuries while people live in northern Siberia and northern Canada and Alaska and Antarctica while millions and billions of people die anywhere near the equator worldwide along with most or all fish near the equator too. Jellyfish might survive higher temperatures than most fish would except for fish that live very deep where the water is colder in the ocean. The coral is now dying to some degree most places already especially near Australia in the Great Barrier Reef because the water is too hot for it to stay alive anymore.
But, if we don't reduce temperatures some winds over 100 mph caused by higher temperatures will devastate many parts of the world where over 100 mph winds exist already like places like deserts and tropical places like Florida, the Caribbean ocean, the equatorial Pacific ocean etc. Because as heat increases this only increases evaporation, rain and precipitation extremely along with much higher and higher winds in everything that has winds including tornadoes and Hurricanes and Cyclones worldwide.
So, what is the solution?
It's not any one thing and hopefully people with scientific backgrounds can help with the decision making of what we will do to keep at least some people alive past the end of this century and into the next.
