If you can live in a constant state of Gratitude in Life then I believe you have succeeded in your life as a human being.
When people say gratitude is the motor of life I wondered about this as a child and as a young man.
As an older adult I understand it because after you are about 40 or so if you don't have gratitude for life you soon are gone.
In a way when you have gratitude for your life ongoing you create a finger of God's heaven here on earth because you tend to stop being critical of yourself and others so much and you move through gratitude into a "State of Grace" here on earth.
To me, this is a state of enlightenment which can be maintained pretty much 24 hours a day.
IT is an attitude in life more than anything else. But, this love and Gratitude tends to make you healthier because you treat yourself and those around you better, you tend to buy better food and this also helps you live longer. So, this is multi-dimensional in that it increases ones life span because you are often doing what you want to rather than being forced by some outside force into doing something you don't want to do.
So, gratitude literally increases not only your lifespan but also the lifespans of those around you.
