I recently told someone that people in the 1950s were more like Animals whereas people today are more like Biological Robots. People knew who they were more in the 1950s in some ways. They would be completely shocked at how "Out of touch with basic reality" people are today. Part of it was we all lived much closer to the earth then in the 1950s and we all took many more risks then physically than people do today. I cannot tell you exactly why this is but it is a part of how America is much more wealthy and classist than it was then. Monetarily there is more difference between people now than then. The biggest difference is the amount of people now who are educated to a greater or lesser degree. That's the biggest change along with people becoming more symbiotic with media and computers and smart phones and all that.
We are much more electronically connected which makes people less individualistic than they were then. This I notice a lot. So people today are more influenced by each other than then in the 1950s. We could be much more individualistic both or good or for ill then which was why people were more physically violent in the U.S. in the 1950s than now. Now, it is kind of crazy in that you cannot hit anyone anymore but people are much more likely to shoot each other than before.
So, this to me is the craziest thing about today compared to the 1950s. Then you might get your face or arm broken in a fight and have to go to the hospital. This was very very common then but you were much much less likely to die from guns then because you were very very looked down upon and frowned upon then if you used a gun.
So, what we lack now is individualism which I find is horrific in the extreme where people cannot seem to make up their minds about anything these days and stay in states of neuroses about this ongoing trying to second guess themselves about everything.
Whereas when I grew up you knew more who you were and why.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
