When I was 8 years old in the 1950s (specifically 1956) I was given what had been my father's .22 pump rifle from when he was a boy. I treasured this weapon for a variety of reasons.
The first reason is that this meant that my father and my mother and my grandmother deemed me "FIT" as a responsible young man to have bullets and a rifle in my bedroom and to take it on trips wherever I went from 8 years old onwards.
And I wasn't the only boy to get a gun between the ages of 8 and 10 years of age either. My cousins and every friend I had was given or bought themselves a .22 Rifle. It was a status symbol that basically said to others: "My parents and grandparents don't think I'm nuts. They gave me a rifle to keep in my bedroom with bullets and to be responsible for. They believe I can defend my family in an emergency and I take my place in a sort of adult state where I'm given a rifle to protect my family to hunt for food and to protect the community from harm.
The fact that we somehow because of the Viet Nam War ended this tradition somewhat is one reason why we are having town after town shot up by "Crazies". Without making children responsible for the protection of their families along with the adults you make everyone a child for life.
You have to be willing to lay down your life for your family starting at 6 or 8 years of age or the whole civilization becomes obsolete and stupid like ours is now.
Strangely enough, not training our children to be like soldiers from a young age we may have ended our democracy which is built upon having an armed militia trained to defend their families, communities and their country.
I was just watching a video of thousands of people running from a motorcycle backfiring in New York City because they thought they were being shot at. Do you see the problem here?
Children and young adults once again need to be taught to give up their lives if necessary to protect their families from harm.Without doing this soon everyone will be dead from crazy shooters (250 so far this year)
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
