Why?
Because religions often are not about truth they are about faith and belief. Just like many people believe in Disney movies (the happy endings) many people want to believe in religions (even though there is no real scientific proof). So, when you actually bring all aspects of your lives into the scientific method and run everything through the lens of hypotheses, theories and laws, you wind up with thousands of potential hypotheses, some theories and very few laws. By doing this you change your whole life in that you are no longer naive in the way you were before. You are less vulnerable from studying what actually is instead of just having faith in one fairy tale or another. It's not that faith is a bad thing, it's that if you are going to have faith in something don't you want to prove to yourself that it's real?
Otherwise, it can be sort of like standing on a cliff with clouds at the same level as the cliff and then in your faith you say to yourself, "Oh, these clouds are as solid as the cliff!" So, you walk out on those clouds. So, are you dead or did you bring your parachute, paraglider or hang glider?
You need to answer this one yourselves.
