Power went out for about 5 hours last night

 As the night progressed last night the power went out for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes many many times. My TIVO was constantly trying to restart from the outages. Finally at about 1 AM it went out and stayed out at least 5 hours. I woke up at 5 or 6 am and I saw a night light on in one of our bathrooms so I realized the power had come back on. Since lights had been on in the house I realized when it went off I got up and turned off any lights that had come back on. We have these plug in rechargeable lights that automatically come on if the power goes off in our house. This saves anyone trying to get to some sort of light when the power goes off from stumbling over something in the dark trying to get to some sort of flashlight or candle. There was a lot of debris outside from things like a huge eucalyptus tree next door where the bark peels off in sections and was all over our deck and yard. But, luckily no windows or sliding doors broken even though one of the screens partially blew off one of our windows. So, we did fairly well. I was worried about heat in the house when the power went off but because it was only off around 5 hours time when i got up to turn off the lights the temperature was only down to 63 in the house. We usually keep it around 67 for sleeping so we don't get too warm during the night especially during the winters.

All in all, we came out pretty well so far in this storm. Right now it is terrorizing people from about Big Sur down to Paso Robles and Santa Barbara and snowing in the Sierras. The weather man said wind will blow the storm up again within 24 hours (which is pretty unusual to get hit with the same storm twice) but that appears what is going to happen according to the weatherman. They expect 16 inches of rain total from this storm from last night within 48 hours of 7 pm last night which is usually the maximum we get within a 2 day period which is why people are worried about dying from the runoff of that much rain with the altitudes we have around here. Because there are altitudes on the coastal range of up to 5000 feet down to sea level which makes all this pretty dangerous in a lot of areas. Luckily, we are in one of the safer areas where we live.
